The Auckland Branch of Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand (CFNZ) is made up of about 70 adults and 50 children with CF and from this membership each year we form a branch committee.
The role of the branch committee is to ensure that support and practical assistance is provided for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families who live in the Auckland area. The Auckland branch fundraises and applies for grants to be able to sustain and grow our support and services.
The Auckland branch is one of twelve branches throughout New Zealand and collectively these branches make up the membership of Cystic Fibrosis New Zealand.
The main challenge of the Auckland branch is ensuring that the services we provide are sustainable and can be developed as the needs of our CF community change. The Auckland branch does not receive any government funding.
Although people with Cystic Fibrosis do not generally mix due to cross infection issues, the Auckland branch knows it is important that the Cystic Fibrosis community feels like a community. Our regular newsletter, morning tea get togethers, social events and our website are all ways that the branch provides opportunities for our community to be informed and engaged.
The Cystic Fibrosis Auckland branch offers the following assistance to our community:
- financial and emotional support
- equipment essential for people with CF
- access to a CF Field Worker who assists with welfare issues
- peer support
- help when in hospital
- education and information.
Please feel free to contact our office if you have any queries or request. Our branch co-ordinator’s name is Kath and the office number is 09 379 0374 or 021 820 566.
